# Website Visitor Reveal

> Turn anonymous website visitor IP addresses into the companies behind them.

Website Visitor Reveal identifies the company behind a website visitor's IP
address, so you can route, score or follow up on visits from target accounts.
Send one IP per request to [`POST /v1/company-reveal`](/api-reference/company-reveal).

<Info>
  **Coming soon:** a website pixel that identifies visiting companies automatically,
  without building your own IP capture. It is following in the coming weeks.
</Info>

## How it works

1. Your backend captures the visitor's IP address, for example from your web server or analytics pipeline.
2. It sends the IP to `POST /v1/company-reveal` with your API key.
3. The response contains the matched companies (if any) and the IP's approximate location.

Website Visitor Reveal is enabled per API key; contact us to enable it.
Requests count toward your account's write rate limit, shared with radar
creation (see [Authentication & Rate Limits](/guides/authentication-rate-limits)).

## Pricing

You are charged only when a lookup finds at least one company: one charge per
lookup, however many companies it returns. No-match lookups and every error
response are free. Each response shows the charge in `usage.total_usd`.
Lookups use the same balance as your radars (see [Balance System](/guides/balance-system-explained)).

We suppress company results for selected IPv4 hosting ranges where attribution
is unreliable. Suppressed lookups aren't charged.

## Best practices

* **Store results.** Every request is a new lookup, so the same IP is charged again. Keep each IP's result on your side instead of looking it up on every page view.
* **Send only public IPs.** Filter out internal, VPN and health-check traffic first.
* **Treat a match as a strong signal, not proof** of who the visitor was. Shared networks (mobile carriers, VPNs, cloud providers) can also skew the location in `ip_geo`.
